Laguna Europark Smart City in the district of Croatà was designed according to smart city and intelligent city models, employing urban planning strategies aimed at optimising the relationship between physical infrastructure and communication, mobility and environment technologies, with particular attention to energy efficiency. The district is located near the port area of Pecem (the third port of Brazil).

It was decided to design an interconnected system network divided into:

1. Interconnected industrial, residential, commercial and institutional areas.
2. Infrastructures: for mobility, transport, water and energy.
3. Social programmes for health, education and public safety.

The urban project involved an area of about 3,000 sq. m and sought to enhance human capital and relations according to a strategic and organic vision that involves the use of high technological standards.

Fred played a key role in the management of the design, permits and execution, encouraging dialogue and cooperation among the various actors involved and the commencement of works in the construction sites, infrastructure works and the first buildings (showroom, controlled accesses and prefabricated production facilities).
